Geriatrics is a medical category that refers to old patients ranging from age 60 and above. And just like Pediatrics, Geriatrics has special training akin to patient’s emotional, psychological, and medical needs. First things to consider when taking care of Senior patients is that they will have emotional lapses because of aging, especially during antibiotic medications. Next is that they will be psychologically unstable. Their self morale and critical thinking can differ from differ. Some of them can encounter dementia, depression, mood swings, and other psychological illnesses. Lastly, geriatrics will need mobility assistance while walking or standing up. Some are bound to wheelchairs while others are completely bedridden. But why do we introduce these facts? Well, we will talk about lengthening your patience so having a good rationale will help you adjust better.






Exercising deep breathing


During though times, deep breathing helps a lot. In fact, anger management teaching supports this intervention. Retirement Home Residents can become so childish that they will push even the most illogical arguments to get what they want. It happens mostly in food restrictions. For instance, diabetic patients can persuasive ask for ice cream and soft drinks, doing everything to bargain with you. As caregiver, it can drain you out. But during this time, take a deep breath and go out of the room for awhile. It will help you relax and regain composure.

Write journals 


At the end of the day, everyone fights hard battles. However, as caregiver you are trained to portray positive atmosphere during administration. However, do the expectations go with reality? No. Sometimes you are weak too. But this emotional turbulence doesn’t have to affect professional life. So the best way to cool down is to write all bottled emotions locked up inside. There is something about reading your own thoughts in a paper that enables you to make a good sense out of it. This simple exercise will help you become more patient, especially in a Home care services environment.

Join Support Groups


Join a Christian Community or other preferred group you want that functions as support group. It will dramatically maximize your understanding and morale a health care provider. Support Groups are important for caregivers and for everyone else because they can hold you up when the battle goes extreme.
